Charles W. Santoro

Co-Founder & Managing Partner

Charles is a Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Sterling Investment Partners.  He is involved in all aspects of the firm's investment activities, including sourcing opportunities, negotiating and structuring transactions, and working with management teams after Sterling's initial investment.  Charles currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Lipari Foods LLC, American West Restaurant Group and as a member of the Board of Directors of FCX Performance, Inc.  He was formerly Chairman of the Boards of Fairway Group Holdings, US Maintenance, FCX Performance, Inc., and Excelligence Learning Corporation, Co-Chairman of the Board of Lazer Spot, Inc. and a member of the Board of Directors of Interline Brands, Inc., Opinionology, Survey Sampling International, Washington Inventory Service, and Western Wats.

Prior Experience

Prior to co-founding Sterling Investment Partners in 1998, Charles served as Vice Chairman, Investment Banking at Paine Webber Group, Inc.  Prior to that, he was a Managing Director, member of the operating committee, and Head of the Multi-Industry and New Business Development Groups at Smith Barney, Inc., having previously been responsible for the firm’s cross-border and international investment banking activities in New York and London, and serving on its International Board of Directors.  Previously, Charles served as the Operations Officer of the European Mergers and Acquisitions department at Morgan Stanley International in London, and was a Vice President in the Mergers and Acquisitions department at Morgan Stanley, Inc. in New York and London.

Personal

Charles is a member emeritus of Columbia College’s Board of Visitors, and served on the University’s Economic Advisory Council, the Manhattanville Ad Hoc Planning Committee, and the Athletics Campaign Leadership Committee.  He is the recipient of Columbia University’s John Jay Award for distinguished professional achievement.  He also is a member of the boards of the Marine Corps - Law Enforcement Foundation and the New York City Police Foundation.
